And More Adventure.
Complete Endurance
The swim tests your nerves. The bike sharpens your focus. The run asks you to keep showing up when your legs are heavy and the day is still long.
Real Grit
Gravel demands more than fitness. It demands presence. Every technical section, every loose corner, every unexpected climb asks you to stay sharp and make good decisions under fatigue.
Deeper Adventure
Gravel triathlon takes you beyond familiar race environments and onto roads, trails, and routes that feel more connected to the places they run through.
No matter how many triathlons I complete, every starting line feels the same. My heart pounds in my ears as I stand shoulder to shoulder with athletes buzzing with nervous energy. After months of pre-dawn mornings and after-work training sessions, there’s still that quiet doubt—am I ready, can I actually do what I set out to do? Through training and racing I find the best version of myself. That’s what keeps me coming back.
A few years into my triathlon career, craving an adventure, I set out to bikepack the Rockies. For weeks, I rode solo through remote terrain. I learned to fix anything on my bike, navigate when the GPS failed, and adapt when plans unraveled. With rings of dirt permanently etched under my fingernails, a stomach full on the same rehydrated meal, and the weariness of a mind stuck in survival mode, I felt a deep sense of awe—knowing that you can only get these views when you’re willing to give up a little comfort.
In 2023, I achieved a lifetime goal: competing in Kona. Years of discipline and sacrifice led to that single day. The race was exhaustion and celebration, all at once. But in the lead-up and the days that followed, something lingered. A pull toward the kind of adventure I had found off road. The highest level of Ironman was focused and demanding, but it lacked the unpredictability, the edge, the freedom that had brought me to life on gravel.
Trailwind is the answer to that pull. It’s a race series for athletes who want the full challenge of triathlon—the structure, the multi-discipline grind, the long-course ambition—but set on terrain that demands more and gives more in return. Gravel triathlon is what happens when multisport racing stops leaving adventure behind.
